Chek Jawa Nature Exploration Trip ( Singapore’s Best Known Nature Treasures )

Join us on an interesting nature learning experience in one of Singapore’s richest biodiversity of fauna and flora to be found – Chek Jawa.

Beside biodiversity, Chek Jawa is also home to Singapore’s richest ecosystems due to its unique natural environment where seven ( 7 ) different mixture of habitats are all found inside the 100-hectare land area of protected wetland ecosystem.

The unique 7 interdependent ecosystems that are found in Chek Jawa is as follow :
( 1 ) Coastal Forest ( 2 ) Mangrove Forest ( 3 ) Rocky Shore ( 4 ) Sandy Shore ( 5 ) Sand Bar ( 6 ) Seagrass Lagoon ( 7 ) Coral Rubble.

Within each of the ecosystems, there is an abundance of natural creatures, rare plants, local and migratory birds. These have attracted photographers, nature lovers, student groups and others to visit Chek Jawa.

It would be a great opportunity for individual, couple or family group outing to enjoy and experience the tour with us where one is able to learn the different eco-systems all within a small area where some of the animal or plant found there are no longer commonly found in Singapore. Our experienced guide will share and show you some of the rich biodiversity of wildlife to be found in Chek Jawa during the tour. Beside exploring Chek Jawa, the morning trip will also visit two ( 2 ) other beautiful nature spots in Pulau Ubin to explore and look for wildlife / birds.

Brief history behind Chek Jawa Existence
The area name Chek Jawa was slated for land reclamation in 1992 and in Dec 2000, the wonderful secrets of Chek Jawa were discovered and public attention was drawn to this site as thousands of citizens flocked to this wetland treasure. A break through was made after appeals from nature lovers and general public which led to a review of its land reclamation plans in Chek Jawa. The final results came through when the Government made an official announcement in 2001 that reclamation work would be deferred as long as Chek Jawa in Pulau Ubin is not required for development.
